Hot News Gulf oil spill: Containment cap working well so far, says BP  10,000 barrels every day
• Experts say it is catching 10,000 barrels every day
• Two relief wells drilled to block oil with heavy mud

Engineers trying to contain the oil spill from the stricken BP Deepwater Horizon well in the Gulf of Mexico have expressed optimism over the "containment cap" placed over the broken well, although it remains uncertain just how effective the method will be in capturing all of the oil.
Latest estimates released today suggest that about 10,000 barrels of oil a day are being caught in the device that was placed over the leaking pipe using remotely operated equipment. The oil is being collected in the funnel-like cap and then ushered up to the surface, where it is collected in a tanker called the Discoverer Enterprise sitting above the wellhead.

Hot News Israel deports 700 activists

Israel on Wednesday was deporting the last of the nearly 700 foreign activists detained in a deadly raid on an aid flotilla bound for Palestinians in the blockaded, Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
Israel’s attorney-general Yehuda Weinstein ordered everyone be deported after deciding not to prosecute any of the activists taken into custody during Monday’s raid.
Officials had earlier said they were considering prosecuting about 50 people believed to be involved in violence, but Mr Weinstein wrote in his order Wednesday that “keeping them here would do more damage to the country’s vital interests than good.”

New York (CNN) -- Enjoy hypocrisy? This past weekend you could glut the appetite.
On Monday, Israeli ships stopped a flotilla carrying materials that could be used for war, including cement that Israel maintained could be used to build bunkers, to Hamas-ruled Gaza. The crew of one boat resisted violently, triggering a firefight in which nine people were killed, most of them Turkish nationals.
Turkey is protesting vigorously. But, question: Turkey is a NATO ally, an applicant to the European Union. What is it doing allowing its nationals to smuggle cement that could build bunkers? Especially when those nationals belong to a group, the Turkish IHH (Insani Yardim Vakfi) that Israel has designated a terrorist organization?

Flotilla fallout could disrupt Iran sanctions Hot News 2010

US, Turkey have already been at odds recently over 4th UNSC sanctions resolution.

WASHINGTON – The fallout over the deadly Gaza flotilla confrontation is threatening to disrupt efforts for another round of UN sanctions against Iran and could sour US-Turkey relations.

A previously scheduled meeting between US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Tuesday was slated to focus on Iran sanctions. But it was instead overshadowed by the death of at least four Turkish citizens at the hands of the IDF when its raid designed to keep a ship bearing a Turkish flag from breaking the Gaza blockade turned bloody.

For American Jews, Israel's catastrophic misadventure on the high seas this weekend has only deepened the chasm that increasingly splits them into two camps. On the Web site of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which represents this nation's aging Jewish establishment, the story on the deadly encounter is headlined "Radical Hamas Supporters Beat, Stab Israeli Soldiers." The deaths of nine people protesting Israel's blockade of Gaza don't even rate a sub-headline.
